The grooves etched into the two rotating planes are known as logarithmic spirals. They always intersect at right angles, and at their intersection a square hole is formed. The objective of the puzzle is to remove the ring that goes through the hole. The design is inspired by a plant, the morning glory, and is reminiscent of a flower bud and twisted tendrils. Its original concept dates back to 1990, but it has been improved by adding various features that make it more intricate. The motto of this puzzle is Flower.
